Matt Chamberlain was born in San Pedro, California, US on April 17, 1967. Influenced by Ringo Star, Neil Peart, Elvin Jones and Stewart Copeland he started drumming in 1982.
Matt Chamberlain studied linear patterns with David Garibaldi before he even had a drum set. Chamberlain then went on to take lessons from Chuck Flores, hand guru Murray Spivak (dig that traditional grip), Chad Wackerman, Graham Lear, and Gregg Bissonette.
Matt Chamberlain's first drum kit was a Tama Superstar 5 piece kit in red stain. Nowadays he plays on drum kits, marimbas, water gong, guitar, slide guitar, tabla, and he's also able to do some digital editing and vocals.
Matt Chamberlain played the saturday Night Live House Band for 1 season.
Did the 1991 tour of Pearl Jam and appears on the video for the song "Alive".
More recently Matt Chamberlain played with Morrissey. Matt, a previous session drummer for the Smashing Pumpkins and R.E.M., replaced Dean Butterworth who decided to continue drumming for Good Charlotte.
