One of the world’s most successful drummers, Steve Ferrone was born in Brighton, England. He was partly inspired to play music by the records being produced by Motown. It wasn't long before Steve was very active in the music scene in Italy and France in addition to his studies at one of Europe's most prestigious music schools, The Nice Conservatory. Steve Ferrone played with Brian Auger’s Oblivion Express before hitting the international airwaves with the very funky Average White Band’s "Cut the Cake". It was in 1974 that Steve joined the band due to the untimely death of Robbie McIntosh.



Classic albums including Soul Searching and Person to Person followed before Steve Ferrone made a move into session work. His mix of jazz sensibilities and funky grooves soon found him playing with such diverse artists as Chaka Khan, Christine McVie, Scritti Politti, Paul Simon, George Benson, Jaco Pastorious, Dom Troiano, Jeff Golub, Bernie Worrell, Duran Duran (Remember the album Notorious? Ferrone replaced initial drummer Roger Taylor) and many others.



Soon after, Steve Ferrone began touring with Eric Clapton and would hold the drum chair until 1992. This lengthy stint with Clapton included the multi-platinum Eric Clapton - Unplugged, and 24 Nights, before Steve found time to record with Jeff Goulb (Out of the Blue) and Bernie Worrell (Funk of Ages). Next he joined Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers to play rock ’n’ roll. Armed with over three decades of experience and clock-like time, Steve Ferrone delivers a patented groove that is simply the best.
