Gary Wallis Live at Remo Drummer Night 2017 Playing the 1974-classic 'You got the Love' Gary Wallis Live at Remo Drummer Night 2017 - Playing the 1974-classic \'You got the Love\' The Remo Drummer Night articles continue with British drum and percussion master Gary Willis. Gary played You got the Love by Rufus featuring Chaka Khan during this spectacular drum evening. The song was written by Ray Parker, Jr. and Chaka Khan and was the first track on the 1974 gold-selling album 'Rags To Rufus'. On the original recording the drums are played by Andre Fischer who, in 1991, produced and arranged Natalie Cole's 7-time Grammy winning song Unforgettable. Just a little background on the song's history, let's go back to Gary Wallis.

Gary Wallis is not only a drummer and percussionist, he is also drum programmer, producer and musical director. From his first steps in music, his resume is a longlist that contains many stars in many genres. His work is just as colorful as the artists he has played and recorded with. His music takes you from Pink Floyd to Westlife and Girls Aloud to Paul Carrack, Bonnie Tyler and of course his long lasting relation with Genesis founder Mike Rutherford in Mike and the Mechanics - with whom he released 'Let Me Fly' this year.

The Style Council
Our previous Remo Drummer Night-article covers Steve White playing The Style Council's My Ever Changing Moods from the 1984 album 'Café Blue'. A year later Gary appeared on the second official Style Council studio album 'Our Favorite Shop' next to Steve White.

Here are some more names he has played with and that show how Gary blends in in virtually every music setting he encounters: David Bowie, Nik Kershaw, 10cc, Il Divo, Atomic Kitten, Dusty Springfield, Tom Jones and Jean Michel Jarre.

Remo Drummer Night
During the 2017 Remo Drummer Night on the Saturday of The UK Drum Show, 17 drummers played a different song with an All Star band put together by Karl Brazil who actually couldn't attend himself because he was in Boston in the USA playing with James Blunt.

Remo Drummer Night 2017 took place during The UK Drum show on Saturday September 23, 2017 in Manchester. Just like the Remo Drummer Night in 2008, the concert was organized to support the Teenage Cancer Trust.

The Remo Drummer Night Band
During Remo Drummer Night Gary played percussion in the All Star band perfoming with the drummers that evening.

The Remo Drummer Night Band are: Sean Berry (Olly Murs) on keyboards, Adam Wakeman (Black Sabbath) on keyboards/guitar, Oscar Golding (James Arthur) on bass, Tom Longworth (Robbie Williams) on guitar, as well as the brass section from Tom Jones's band and vocalists Denosh Bennett (Robbie Williams), Nayanna Holley (Robbie Williams) and Ryan Molloy (Frankie Goes to Hollywood, Jersey Boys West End production).
