With the increasing amount of Live Streams on all social media platforms during these Covid-times, you can easily get tired with artists that make themselves maybe a little too accessible. Of course, there are great sessions like Mike Dolbear's Live Instagram Chats with the top artists he features. Mike already had 92 talks with artists like Richard Spaven, Brendan Buckley, Dave Weckl, Kaz Rodriguez, Jonathan Mover and 87 more! His latest is an hour with Zildjian's cymbal smith Paul Francis.

DrumChannel however, made something really special happening with their first 'Thousand Oaks Drum Club' streaming session.

Thousand Oaks
Thousand Oaks is the second-largest city in Ventura County in California, some 40 miles from Downtown Los Angeles. It is the base of some of the most famous drummers on the planet.

Thomas Lang lives in Thousand Oaks. Before the ride to the construction of his 9 Beats Music School, Drummerszone visited Thomas Lang after the 2020 NAMM Show. Outside his home studio, Thomas could just point at the houses of several artists living almost next, or at least very close to him. For the fun of it, below we added the video where we take a ride from his home to the 9 Beats Music School.

The Thousand Oaks Drum Club
Initially started as 'The Woodland Hills Drum Club,' Jethro Tull and Gino Vannelli drummer Mark Craney was one of its original members. When The Club starts talking about him, an avalanche of drumming history unfolds when they share their stories, knowledge and serious drum lessons.

The video has a full hour where Jeff Porcaro still receives all his rightful credits from these drummers. And where Cuban Latin and Pop King Carlos Vega was the other hottest drummer between these hired drum guns on the scene those days. While Vinnie Colaiuta, JR Robinson, Jim Keltner and many others were among the favorites as well, Drumchannel wisely chose topics to discuss during the sessions. Jeff, Carlos, and Mark are the right highlights that have to be mentioned first in the context of 'Thousand Oaks Drum Club'.

DW's Don Lombardi hosts the session perfectly in 3 sections. Gregg Bissonette even shares his first session and learning Ringo Starr's style of playing - sitting and playing next to him! Doane Perry shares another highlight about his own career - it just goes on and on.

A 2-minute Drumchannel Studio Tour
Drummerszone visited the DW factory a few days before the 2019 NAMM Show. Across the street from the factory are the famous Drumchannel.com studios, located at the far end of the building where also the company's main offices and the DW warehouse are located. We couldn't let this unique opportunity go unnoticed, so we just walked in with the phone camera on to share this impression for anyone interested.
