The kick-off of the festival is done by the winner of the 2017 Drum Talent Contest, Damian de Weerd. Followed by Jazz legend John Engels with his trio. After drum prodigy Kaz Rodriguez Dutch phenomenon Jimmy van den Nieuwenhuizen will perform, right before Tom Brechtlein.

Damian de Weerd
Drum Talent is a biannual drum competition by Dutch Drum magazine Slagwerkkrant and Adams Drumworld. Damian won the contest in 2017 and prices included an Adams 8000 drum kit, and the opening performance at the festival.

John Engels Trio
John Engels, with his 82 years still relentless as a drummer and musician. Being one of the real icons in Jazz for over 65 years, he has played and recorded with artists like Chet Baker, Toots Thielemans, Woody Shaw, Nina Simone, Phil Woods, Stan Getz, Dizzy Gillespie, Monty Alexander and countless others. At 11:15am he'll be performing with his trio.

Kaz Rodriguez
Well, if you haven't heard of Kaz yet. This will probably be reason enough to get a ticket fast!

Kaz Rodriguez plays: Roland, Vic Firth, Remo, Tama drums

Jimmy van den Nieuwenhuizen
Jimmy is one of the drummers of the stars in the Netherlands. He has been working in the music industry for 12 years and is now known as one of the top talented drummers of the Netherlands. Not only is he in the bands of VanVelzen and Soundwise with bandleader Eric van Tijn, Jimmy also performs as a session musician for several well-known and up-and-coming artists, live events (De Vrienden van Amstel LIVE!, Holland Zingt Hazes, Let's Dance) and television shows (It Takes 2, The Passion). He is a regular guest in the Dutch studio scene and records with artists such as Wulf and Dinand Woesthoff.

He hits the stage with his band at 1:30pm.

Tom Brechtlein
One of the most respected drummers from the USA. Probably best known for his long period with Robben Ford, he has played and recorded with Chick Corea, Al Di Meola, violinist Jean Luc Ponty and innumerable many others.

Tom also hosts two days of masterclasses prior to the festival on September 6 & 7.

Tom plays: Yamaha drums, Remo drumheads, Sabian cymbals, Regal Tip, Meinl Percussion and Shure mics.

Collin Leijenaar
He is often refered to as 'The Dutch Portnoy' when he was playing with Neal Morse. Collin made a name in the progressive rock scene by becoming the drummer, bandleader and tourmanager in the European live band of Neal Morse where he subbed for Mike Portnoy. Between 2005 and the summer of 2011 Collin has toured with Neal Morse through Europe and released live albums and DVD's. His music school Novae Popschool has over 500 students and a team of 35 teachers, staff members and volunteers.



Benny Greb
At 5:30pm Benny Greb kicks off. Just watch this to get impressed already.

Benny plays: Meinl cymbals and percussion, Vic Firth sticks, Sonor drums, Remo drumheads.

Rashid Williams
Jonathan Mover in Drumhead Magazine about Rashid Williams:

"At the age of 22 Rashid plays with the maturity of someone twice his age. He has a dangerous combination of chops, groove and impeccable time, well balanced and expertly displayed.
- Jonathan Mover"

A self-taught musician, Rashid began playing the drums at the age of three and professionally for churches and choirs at the age of seven. Rashid plays with the top of the top: John Legend, Eric Roberson, Goapele, N.E.R.D., Jill Scott, Diddy Dirty Money, JCole and Alicia Keys. Rashid is listed among Cirque du Soleil's roster of producers and drummers.

Rashid will close the festival at 7pm.
