Ed Soph is Associate Professor of Music at the University of North Texas where he teaches drumset and rhythmic improvisation.
Active as a performer, Ed Soph's recent recording releases include The Stamm/Soph Project Live at Birdland with Marvin Stamm, Bill Mays, Rufus Reid, and John Abercrombie and The Music of Russ Freeman with pianist Stefan Karlsson and Tom Warrington.
His discography also includes recordings with Joe Henderson, Bobby Shew, Clark Terry, Randy Brecker, Bill Watrous, and Woody Herman. Ed Soph is also the author of "Musical Time" (Carl Fischer Music), an innovative approach to mastering jazz coordination.
