A couple years ago, I was introduced to the handpan. I found it very enjoyable to play, especially when incorporating some drum techniques with ideas of advanced rhythms I apply to the drum set. My approach to playing this instrument may not be as per usual, but thats what making music is all about for me; making it my own and enjoying the process of creating ideas, composing, performing, and mixing/production.
Fire Over Water is the first piece. There will be more! Im building a record, one track at a time. This one will be available soon on all streaming platforms. It was a spontaneous, improvised pass on the handpan (to a click) with an idea of song form, but nothing written down or preconceived. I played the drum part to it afterwards.
