Born as John Anthony Gillis in Detroit, Michigan on July 9, 1975 Jack White is best known as guitarist and lead vocalist for The White Stripes.
However, Jack began playing drums at the age of five. He also plays percussion instruments such as the marimba (as on The Nurse) and tambourine.
Around seventeen, Jack White landed his first professional gig as the drummer for the Detroit band Goober & the Peas. He also played in other local bands.
More recently, Jack White has played as drummer and backup vocalist in The Dead Weather.
