Legendary drummer Dennis Chambers owned the final episode of the 2nd season of the Zildjian Live video series. With over a 100,000 in its first two days, the G.O.A.T. is still as strong as ever. With a warm introduction from host Aaron Spears, the hero of heroes gave his honors to others on Zildjian Live. But there is much more behind this as well.
The video has Aaron Spears introducing Dennis Chambers as "One of the legends, one of the blue prints, a true G.O.A.T.!" Where GOAT means the 'Greatest Of All Time,' Spears also asked for a standing ovation for the drummer that simply deserves that kind of recognition when only entering a room. That is the legend of Dennis Chambers.
This Zildjian Live recording resulted in a spontaneous talent-explosion from the band, where each member recognized the historical vibe happening in the moment.
A quick sidetrack: halfway, the song suddenly has a very cool reference to the The Brecker Brothers tune Some Skunk Funk, with Harvey Mason and Ralph MacDonald on the original recording and opening track of the brother's debut album in 1975.
With Dennis his performance and the added Live Q&A below, some of the most remarkable moments in this video are before and after tracking Loose Screws at the Zildjian factory.
Gergo Borlai & Dennis Chambers In May 2020, Gergo Borlai released his fourth official solo album 'The Missing Song'. The entire album is an ode to nine living and legendary drummers from the USA. All the track titles on the album have the names of these heroes. Dennis Chambers is track #3 on the album. Gergo's incredible performance on Zildjian Live Season 2 is added below as well.
Dennis Chambers also mentions a few others in recognition of this Zildjian experience. Naturally, Robert "Sput" Searight is one of them as the band leader of Ghost-Note, which has Snarky Puppy-original Nate Werth on percussion. And where Aaron Spears deserved all his credits as a host as well, Dennis also gives credit to bass player MonoNeon.
MonoNeon is literally a one-of-kind musician, and the last bass player to have played with Prince. He is a left-handed bassist playing the strings reversed. Just like Jimmy Haslip and Slipknot's Paul Gray. Fun fact: Justin Bieber also is a left-handed player, although not with reversed strings. Added below is a video of MonoNeon playing with Daru Jones.
Track listing on Gergo Borlai's 'The Missing Song' All songs on his solo album are composed and arranged by Gergo himself except Terry, which was composed and arranged by guitarist Alex Machacek, who is also present on Thomas Lang's 2019 release 'Progpop.' These are the songs/drummers on Gergo's solo album.
