At the Musikmesse in Frankfurt last week, the winners of the annual Musikmesse International Press Awards (MIPAs) were announced.

58 magazines from all over the world, including Slagwerkkrant and Interface (Netherlands), Modern Drummer and Drum! (USA), Drummer (UK), and Sticks (Germany), got together to vote for the best products of 2005/2006 in more than 40 categories.
The awards have been presented to the winners at a special MPA-Ceremony held during Musikmesse 2006.
In the category Acoustic Drums Tama\'s Starclassic Bubinga was voted as winner. DW\'s Vertical Grain Exotics and Sonor SQ2 had been nominated as well.
Zildjian\'s K Custom hybrid cymbals were voted Best Cymbals, topping nominated Sabian\'s Legacy Series and Meinl\'s Mb10 series.
In the category Drum Hardware Sonor\'s 600 series won from nominees Pacific\'s B.O.A. and Trick\'s Pro 1 V Pedals.
The Tala Wands by Vic Firth were voted Best Drumsticks. Pro-Mark\'s MJZ maple series and Zildjian\'s Tayor Hawkins signature sticks had been nominated too.
The journalists named Evans\' EC2 drum heads the best, topping nominted Aquarian\'s Power Thin and Remo\'s NuSkyn Mondo.
Roland\'s Handsonic HPD1 won in in the category E-Drums. Ddrum\'s Acoustic Pro triggers followed closely.
In the category Percussion Instruments Meinl\'s Conga Cajon became number one. Gon Bops\' California Series and Pearl\'s Folkloric Percussion Series had been nominated as well.

More than 300 international representatives of manufacturers and distributors of musical instruments and audio equipment have joined for the seventh MIPA Awards Show including guests from the USA, Canada, Japan, Brazil, South Africa, Russia, Poland, Great Britain, Italy, France, Greece, The Netherlands, Belgium, Luxemburg, Sweden, Denmark, Austria, Switzerland and Germany.
This proves that the mipa Musikmesse International Press Award has become the \"Grammy\" of the Musical Instrument/Pro Audio industry.
