Legendary Chad Wackerman will be this year’s headline artist at the 11th installment of Rhythmfest, one of the top drumming summer schools in the UK.

Chad will be with around for two days, hosting masterclasses and workshops for all attendees. Rhythmfest will take place from July 30 - August 5, 2011 in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire.
Chad Wackerman is best known for his seven-year association with Frank Zappa.
He has also recorded and toured with artists as diverse as Allan Holdsworth, Barbra Streisand, Steve Vai, Andy Summers, Albert Lee and Dweezil Zappa.
Artist lineup complete Rhythmfest's artist lineup is rounded out by Pete Lockett, one of the most versatile multi-percussionists currently in the world; session drummer and tuition author Robert Brian; Rhythm Matters (Darren Ashford on drums and Dave Marks on bass); plus Pete Riley, longest serving tutor at the Academy Of Contemporary Music.
Tutors are James Hester, Erik Stams and Colin Woolway.
About Rhythmfest Rhythmfest is made unique by it’s integration with guitar, bass and vocal schools. This means that attendees are surrounded by a variety of music all week, not just drums.
The course follows an intense, yet enjoyable, structure of workshops, group lessons, masterclasses from top international drummers, jam sessions, one-to-one tuition and gigs. The week is suitable for all levels and all ages of player from absolute novice to seasoned pro – we can guarantee that everyone will coming away a better, more inspired player.
A large selection of both Roland electronic kits and Mapex acoustic kits (plus Paiste cyumbals) means that everyone has the opportunity of practising what they are learning all week.
A typical day would begin with lessons / workshops at 9.15 running through until lunchtime with a tea break mid-morning. The afternoon would be predominantly a clinic or masterclass with that day’s guest artist, with optional small group or 1-1 tuition with the resident tutors in the second half. There will often be another informal workshop after dinner followed by gigs and jam sessions in the SU bar until late.
