Stephan Emig from Hannover studied drums and percussion at Modern Music School Giessen and later at Los Angeles Music Academy. He is a working professional musician since 1998.

Stephan Emig won the youth jazz combo competition in Hessen 1994 and 2000, German Rock-Pop-Award 2000, national youth jazz combo competition 2001, Jazzaward of the Westfahlenfestival, Support- and the Arts-Award of the government of Kassel 2001 and 2002. With Triosence he reached the finals of the international jazzcompetition of Hoeilaart, Belgium, 2005. The first two Triosence CDs were nominated for the "German Critics Award".
With Hamid's cd 'Sidi' Stephan Emig reached no. 6 in the European world-music charts. The duett with Mohammed Mounir "Sidi" charted no. 1 in Egypt.
The Triosence' cd 'Away for a while' stayed in the German International Jazz Top 20 for half a year. Their third cd 'When You Come Home' (Sony), released in February 2008, also made its way into the jazz-charts. Together with American singer Sara Gazarek and gutarist Frank Haunschild he toured the United States and Europe. They recorded their next cd in 2009.
He released the cds/books 'African Grooves for Drumset' with Kenian drummer Altaf Vellani, 'Future Drumming' with Dirk Brand and the dvd 'Ritmo Del Mundo 1.0'. He has also published articles in Sticks Magazine and is featured in their workshop section.
Stephan Emig is teaching at music college Hannover and is touring clinician for Sonor Drums as a solo-artist and as "Ritmo Del Mundo" with Nené Vasquez. Stephan is also teaching at festivals, the Band Camp of the music academy in Hammelburg and at the creativ drumcamps in Tirol (I) together with Benny Greb and Oli Rubow.
