Born on the outskirts of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, Rodney Howard began drumming at 17. He went on to enroll at East Carolina University as a Percussion Performance Major, playing everything from the Big Band, Bop and Latin ensembles that the University offered to the Southern R&B indigenous to the area.
After moving to New York City, Rodney Howard's among the city's busiest drummers, recording and performing with NYC's most established as well as it's most up-and-coming. His diverse credits include Rock and Roll Hall-of-Famer Ben E. King, Joan Jett, Kate Pierson (B-52's), John Patitucci and Micheal Pope (Chick Corea), Chris Botti & Jeffery Lee Campbell (Sting), Jeff Kazee (Bon Jovi) , G.E. Smith & Lenny Pickett (Saturday Night Live), Tom Barney, Ted Baker & Cornelius Bumpus (Steely Dan), Lorenza Ponce (Sheryl Crow), Sebastian Bach, Francisco Centeno (Aretha Franklin), (David Bowie Producer) Tony Visconti, Mark Rivera, Tommy Burns & Crystal Talifero (Billy Joel).
Broadway credits include The Lion King, Hairspray, Mamma Mia, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Little Shop of Horrors & Saturday Night Fever. He has performed, with different artists, on Late Night with Conan O'Brian, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The Late Show with David Letterman, The Carson Daly Show, Regis and Kelly, The Ellen DeGeneres Show ,MTV's Hard Rock Live, Pepsi Smash, Good Morning America, and Rove Live (in Australia).
Having played on the Platinum-Selling album Chariot Stripped, Rodney Howard is currently on a headlining tour with artist Gavin DeGraw throughout the U.S., Canada, Australia, Europe and Japan, as well as opening slots with Michelle Branch, Duran Duran, Avril Lavigne, The Allman Brothers and Maroon 5. The band also appears on the recent One Tree Hill soundtrack (on Maverick).
