Legendary Morris "Arnie" Lang, president of Lang Percussion, began studying at Juilliard while still in high school, and has since spent 40 years as a percussionist in the New York Philharmonic, working with such greats as Leonard Bernstein and Saul Goodman.
Biography:
Morris "Arnie" Lang was a student of a student of Billy Gladstone. At that time Lang was nineteen years old, a student at Juilliard School of Music studying with Saul Goodman. He was already a pretty good snare drummer, playing snare drum with the City Ballet Orchestra and a full scholarship student at Juilliard
Lang played percussion for the New York Philharmonic for over 40 years and wrote the book on percussive technique - literally.
Arnie Lang became involved with the music products industry in the 1950s when he began making his own mallets and later snare drums and complete sets.
Along the way, he wrote music and method books, and was inducted into the Percussive Arts Society (PAS) Hall of Fame.
