Memo Acevedo, a native of Colombia, is known for his talents on percussion as well as drumset. Though he is regarded as an expert on Afro-Cuban and Brazilian rhythms, his stylistic versatility has found him recording or performing with Tito Puente, Stephen Stills, Irakere, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Tom Scott, Mark Murphy, and the Broadway musical The Lion King.
Memo Acevedo has recorded and produced his own album Building Bridges. He was the musical director for "Afrocubanismo Festival" and recorded with Irakere on the Afrocubanismo CD on Bembé Records. In addition to his teaching at The Collective, Memo Acevedo teaches drums and percussion at NYU.
