Joe Clegg has been playing the drums for over ten years. Born in Lancashire, raised on a diet of Motown, inspired to play the drums by his father, influenced at first by Phil Collins and learnt to play by listening to Bon Jovi and ZZ Top at the age of 12 courtesy of his first drum teacher.
At 18, off the back of a year studying music at ACM, Joe Clegg joined an internationally touring band that honed and shaped his musicianship, taught Joe to play live with a click and to love every minute of being on stage.
In recent years Joe Clegg has been lucky enough to find himself in situations and on sessions that have helped him further develop his craft - playing for the legendary Rick Rubin in Hollywood, performing at the SXSW festival in Austin, Texas, live radio sessions for LA station KCRW and Radio 2, studio sessions across the UK and in Atlanta, and working with songwriting great Guy Chambers.
In the Autumn of 2009 Joe Clegg became the drummer and musical director for the Brit award winning Ellie Goulding. In a relatively short period of time they played a headline tour, supported Little Boots on her UK tour, appeared on Later With Jools Holland (series 35, episode 7,) recorded sessions for Radio 1 dj's Huw Stephens and Lauren Laverne at Maida Vale and recorded live tracks for MTV's new music campaign.
In May 2011, Joe Clegg and Ellie Goulding had the honour of playing at the Royal Wedding reception for Prince William and Catherine Middleton. They were the only musicians to have the privilege of playing for the newlyweds.
