Originally from Orlando, Florida, Danny Gottlieb is recognized as one of the world's leading drummers in jazz, and jazz-fusion music. While best known as the drummer with the original Pat Metheny Group (6 years, 6 recordings, 3 Grammy awards), during the last 30 years Danny has performed and recorded with some of the world's greatest artists, including: Sting, John Mclaughlin, Stan Getz, Herbie Hancock, Al Di Meola, Manhattan Transfer, Gerry Mulligan, Bobby McFerrin, David Byrne, Gil Evans, the Blues Brothers Band, Eddie Gomez, Booker T and the MG's, Gary Burton, Ahmad Jamal, the Carnagie Hall Jazz Band, the GRP big band, Dr. John, and many more.
Danny is featured on over 300 cd's, including 5 Grammy winners. He has 3 solo recordings, 9 as co-leader of the fusion group "Elements', with former Metheny bassist Mark Egan, and 2 as co-leader with Keyboardist Pete Levin.
In addition, Danny has appeared on the cover of such prestigious publications as; Modern Drummer, Downbeat, Rhythm, and Percussionist.
