Hans in ´t Zandt immersed himself in the realm of music and drumming at the tender age of 8 years old. He had to make do with mom´s knitting needles and pillows as there was no money for drum lessons, let alone a drumkit.
At the age of 13 he bought his own first set of drums with his own hard earned money and entered his first band. Within six months he and his band were ready to hit the stage and he has been on it ever since.
Years of self education passed while doing everything by heart and ears building his style and feel playing in bands like Chinawhite, Terra Nova, The Chillfactor, Cooper Inc., Parris, Piledriver, Time Machine, Shake Awake, Angel Dust.
He also got a name for himself as a hired hand doing gigs, stand-in jobs and recordings for other people.
The urge to learn more about making good music drove him to study with people like Bruce Becker ( Master Teacher), Dave Weckl ( needs no introduction ), Rene Creemers and the Los Angeles Music Academy where he was taught by Joe Porcaro, Ralph Humphrey, Mike Shapiro, Mike Packer, Mark Schulman, Jerry Steinholz, Sherman Ferguson, Aaron Serfaty and Tony Inzalaco.
Hans´ versatility covers all styles of music. He teaches at the Drummers Institute in Düsseldorf, Germany and has his own drumschool called The Rhythm Syndicate.
This everlasting quest called music lead him to work with Fred Hendrix, Barend Courbois, Joost Vergoossen, Rob Winter, Rogier v. Wegberg, Michel Hatzigeorgiou, Marius Goldhammer, Lorenzo Feliciati, Franc O´Shea , Norman Stockton, Dominique di Piazza, Steve Fister (ex-Lita Ford, Steppenwolf), Tony Martin (ex-Black Sabbath), Dez Bailey ( Bailey´s Comet ) the First and Second European Bass Day, Toto, Kerfonse Kanté, …
It even earned him an article in De Slagwerkkrant: SWK 104.
