Gary Mallaber (Buffalo, New York, 1946) probably plays on at least one of your all-time favorite tunes. His name may not sound familiar, but his playing certainly is.
From his years with Van Morrison and Steve Miller to his recordings with Eddie Money, Bonnie Raitt, and Bruce Springsteen, Gary's philosophy has remained unchanged; play what the song calls for.
With recording credits well into three digits (perhaps four), Gary is undoubtedly one of LA's seasoned veterans.
In addition to drums, Mallaber plays vibraphone on the Morrison records. He has played on hit singles by Miller, Morrison, Springsteen, Peter Frampton, Poco, Paul Williams, and Kermit the Frog.
Some of the many other artists Mallaber has recorded with include Joan Armatrading, The Beach Boys, David Cassidy, Bonnie Raitt, Tom Rush, Bob Seger, Barbra Streisand, singer/songwriter Elvis Perkins (on the album "Ash Wednesday") and Warren Zevon.
