The limited One Of A Kind are the very top of the line of the Sonor snare program. For 2017, Sonor presented two new special high gloss outside, and semi gloss inside veneers: the Bocote and Cocobolo. Two unique and limited to only 70 pieces, because the veneers on these drums are all from the same tree. They are built with the best Sonor has to offer: the outer and inner veneer, a dual glide strainer system and much more. All the specs of these two are in the video below. Also added are videos of the Poisonwood and Pacific Walnut Burl editions from 2016, the 2015 editions and the very first One Of A Kind snare drums from 2014: the White Ebony and the Red Tigerwood.
Bocote and Cocobolo Bocote and Cocobolo are the names of the 2017 snare drums. The badges are laser cut mallet shaped logos, made out of the same veneer that is used on the snares. Each One Of A Kind snare drum is delivered in a hard case, made to Sonor's specifications for these drums.
For each One Of A Kind serie, a certain tree is selected with the goal to only use the most exiting parts of the grain and set them to perfect vertical grain patterns. Vertical outside veneer grains have been introduced by Sonor in 1973 and are one of the company's trademarks. The drums are handmade in the Sonor factory in Germany.

2014 One Of A Kind White Ebony & Red Tigerwood The first One Of A Kind snare model was the 14x7" White Ebony (diospyros embryopteris), which will be limited to 45 snare drums world wide. Its shells consist of hand selected North American Maple, 21 plies/ 14,65 mm thickness with a modern 45 degrees bearing edge. It's finished with a high gloss lacquered White Ebony veneer and black nickel plated fittings.
The second One Of A Kind snare model is the 14x6.25" Red Tigerwood (Larix spec.), which will be limited to 75 snare drums world wide. Its shells consist of hand selected German Beech, 9 plies/ 8 mm thickness with a modern 45 degrees bearing edge. It's finished with high gloss lacquered Red Tigerwood veneer and chrome fittings.
