Aimed at percussion fans and percussionists of all ages and level of ability, the RCM Festival of Percussion takes place from 10.30am until 7.30pm on Sunday 8 July 2012.

Highlights of the nine-hour, fun-packed festival include:

• Stewart Copeland, drummer with The Police, performing selections from his Grammy-nominated album 'Orchestralli' with the RCM Big Band
  
• Stewart Copeland in conversation, the legendary drummer talks about his life as drummer with The Police and as award-winning composer for stage and screen.
  
• Possibly the largest collection of historical timpani ever assembled under one roof
  
• An introduction to orchestral performance from the complete timpani and percussion sections of the BBC Symphony Orchestra
  
• Performances and demonstrations from world percussionist Pete Lockett, big band drummer Matt Skelton and jazz vibes specialist Anthony Kerr, who will be performing with his trio.
  
• How to guides from some of today's top performers: a first look at some percussion techniques as Hugh Wilkinson, David Hockings and Joe Richards introduce us to congas, the snare drum, marimba and pop tambourine.
  
• A mini-festival of some of the country's top young percussion groups.
  
• Representatives of the UK's leading instrument manufacturers
