The MIPA awards were presented to the winners in more than forty categories at a special ceremony and party held at the Musikmesse annex Prolight + Sound show in Frankfurt, Germany on Thursday, March 22.

Lifetime Achievement Award
Junpei Hoshino, who served as president for the Hoshino Gakki Group (owner of the Ibanez guitar and Tama drums brand names) for many years, received a Lifetime Achievement Award.

Previous laureates in this special cateogry include Ikutaro Kakehashi, founder of the Roland Corporation, who received the award in 2002, Robert Zildjian, founder of Sabian Cymbals, who received one in 2005 and Remo D. Belli, ceo and founder of Remo, who received a MIPA Lifetime Achievement Award in 2007.
