All snares have been chosen by the editors of Modern Drummer magazine as “Snare Drum Of The Month\".

According to Modern Drummer, the snares represent a selection of some of the latest and greatest in metal and wood shell designs and tonalities. All twelve drums were digitally recorded and mastered by John himself. Explains John:

”In studio situations, the snare drum is often the first drum to be swapped out when a variation in sound is required. In fact, many of today’s top session drummers carry dozens of snare drums to every recording date, just to be sure they have something that perfectly complements the vibe of each track. ‘Snare Drum Selects, Volume 1’ efficiently and economically offers that same level of sonic variety and quality to virtually any producer, programmer, or player.”

’Snare Drum Selects, Volume 1’ was produced, recorded, and edited by John Emrich, frequent MD contributor and creator of many of FXpansion’s BFD2 sample libraries, with the assistance of co-producer and MD magazine associate editor Michael Dawson.

Sounds
According to John, each drum was meticulously tuned and recorded in a multi-microphone format to showcase its sonic properties and offer the end user maximum flexibility.

In addition to primary “snares-on” samples of each drum, SDSV1 also features alternate samples of selected drums being played with different combinations of sticks, brushes, mallets, and even hands.

BFD2 format
The Snare Drum Selects collection is offered in the award-winning BFD2 format and requires BFD2 for playback. BFD2 is Virtual Studio Technology (VST) based drum software that allows easy triggering of high-definition drum sounds in electronic drum performance, programmed beats, or sound replacement of recorded drum tracks using the drum replacement plug-in Drumagog.

The SDS sound library is recommended for use in home and professional studio recording situations but can also be applied to live performances with electronic drums or acoustic drum triggers.
