A Fun Fact we learned after publishing this video and article: Joué was one of Time Magazine's 25 Best Products at CES 2020.

At the NAMM Show all sorts of magic happens, like Sabian's new tattooed cymbals, new signature snare drums for artists like Craig Blundell, Russ Miller - both Mapex, Mike Johnston (Gretsch) and Brian Frasier Moore (Pearl).

While these all have their own specialties, Joué created something new and really different: a digital instrument that matches with all the main music software out there. And playing (with) it is like learning a whole new instrument but making music fun at the same time.

Joué was first released in 2017. At NAMM2020 we found the company literally on the edges of the trade show's floor. These are the small booths that many pass without paying attention while there are worlds to discover on the products shared by these brands.

Joué's magic modules for music everywhere

We consider Joué a new hybrid drumming tool with a galaxy of possibilities in musicality.

This is one of those instruments that can easily be integrated in a drummer's live setup. You can program it to all your needs and desired settings to support you during live shows or in the studio.
The recording function makes it possible to save your ideas instantly to the device you are using. This and all the other applications of Joué seem endless in turning ideas into professional use.

Joué is made of wood and metal and is equipped with a pressure sensitive sensor on which the magic modules are placed. The modules, such as drums pads, piano keys, guitar strings or 3D control provide an infinite playground. Officially, the Joué is a modular MIDI controller.

The Joué board is built around a highly sensitive multi-touch sensor that captures even the most subtle pressure changes. The board has 3 slots that you can place the modules on. Each slot has a RFID (Radio-frequency identification) reader that detects the placing of a module in real-time.

You simply connect and power the board to a computer, a tablet or a smartphone through the USB-C connector. When you unplug it, it automatically powers off.

The Modules are made of soft and elastic material that transmits every pressure variation to the sensor. The remarkable low latency gives you direct feedback when playing it.

But there is more...
The Joué can be a standard midi controller, an effect control, an instrument, or even all at the same time! You can easily turn the Joué into a new instrument yourself. The data the modules sends to the software can be anything from triggering sounds, control effects and much more.
