The fifth annual Hit Like A Girl contest for female drummers will open for entries on Monday, February 1, 2016. A special kickoff announcement will take place on January 22, 2016 at 11:30 am at Mapex booth #3240 in Hall D.
The following week, a special kickoff festival will be held Saturday February 6 at Swing House Studios in Los Angeles.
After five sets of weekly winners are chosen by celebrity / industry judging teams, entries will close on March 13th. There will then be two weeks of public voting followed by the announcement of twenty finalists in each of the under and over eighteen age divisions and one week of professional judging. The 2016 HLAG Contest winners will be announced during a live awards show on April 14th.
Now in its fifth year, since the Hit Like A Girl Contest is designed to spotlight female drummers and encourage lifelong musicianship. Since it began there have been more than 1,600 entrants from 45 countries.
For 2016, Hit Like A Girl is expanding its activities with the Power Pack education bundle and live drum festivals in Los Angeles and New York.
