The amazing 10-year-old Kalonica "Nicx" Chrisandy of Indonesia has become the champion of the 2015 Hit Like A Girl Contest in the Under 18 category.
Lindsay Artkop, a 19-year-old multi-instrumentalist and student at Berklee College Of Music, took top honor in the 18+ category.
The 2015 Hit Like A Girl Contest proved to be toughest competition so far, at least for the judges who had to pick winners. For the first time, the celebrity judging panel chose four winners (rather than three) in the Under 18 category, due to a tie for second runner-up.
Nicx received the grand prize of a PDP Concept Series Maple CM6 set.
Lindsay won a six-piece Mapex / NFUZD kit and an invitation to perform at the 40th anniversary Percussive Arts Society International Convention (PASIC) in San Antonio. All first and second runners-up received a drum set from Yamaha, PDP, or Mapex.
Hit Like A Girl's celebrity judging crew included Jess Bowen (The Summer Set), contest spokesperson Didi Negron (Cirque du Soleil's Amaluna), Venzella Joy (Beyoncé), Meytal Cohen, Kimberly Thompson, Lux Drummerette (Nekromantix, Sacred Storm), Bobbye Hall (legendary Motown percussionist), Debbie Knox-Hewson (Charli XCX), Hannah Ford-Welton (Prince), Cherisse Osei (Brian Ferry), Kate Schellenbach (Luscious Jackson), Alicia Warrington (Kate Nash), Kenri Sawaguchi, and past winners Reisha Fayson, Alexey Poblete, and Kanade Sato.
