When Chad Smith was announced as closing artist for the Drummer Live! 2008 festival, probably the whole Red Hot Chili Peppers fan club was summoned to attend this historical hour of the first clinic of Chad Smith on a drum festival. And the title contains on every level what the crowd experienced; Chad\'s ever beating heavy drums and Rock \'n Roll in the sense of creating the right vibe for what the few thousand people wanted and got at this pretty chaotic last event of the first day of the event.

This introduction almost captures Chad Smith’s entire clinic already. Nevertheless, it was a first and foremost spectacular one. The drummer is one of the true Rock statements in music. One who holds up to it without making compromises. Having a true and boyish approach towards music and drums makes him the honest artist he is: one who loves music, his instrument and one who needs to feel the groove everywhere at every moment at any place. Throw that in a blender with a Rock \'n Roll feeling, and you have Chad Smith in person and as a musician.
In the following videos you can see Chad perform solo while playing along with Chili Pepper songs, and two videos of his drum solo during Drummer Live! 2008. The last two videos contain nice surprises. We have added the last one just to give you an idea of how popular this drummer is, and the organizational mess this suddenly gets when people try to leave the venue after the clinic.
Chad Smith plays: Pearl drums, Sabian Cymbals, Vater drumsticks and Remo drumheads.
