\"By cross-pollinating dj culture with the syntax of jazz interaction and utilizing sound processing techniques [...] Nerve has been formulating a highly skilled, kinetic and dynamic hybrid of improvisational performed music [...]\"
Through the years the band have played with artists like Vernon Reid, Zach Danziger, loads of MCs and even a tap dancer.
But Jojo has done many things which are impossible to list in this Drummer Live review. A few more special appearances are worth mentioning, disclosing the diversity of this artist. Dr. Mayer has also worked with: the Vienna Art Orchestra, the Intergalactic Maiden Ballet, played the Modern Drummer Festival Weekend, NAMM Shows, The Buddy Rich Memorial Scholarship and featured as an actor in tv commercials and as a self-named \'enthusiastic hobby magician\' he did several magic shows.
Jojo at Drummer Live! 2008
Watching Jojo work during a clinic like he did on Drummer Live is an experience on itself. This man has not only a unique style and groove, but also has the special gift to pull you deep into his music and his playing. Not just because of his extremely well developed techniques, it is just a matter of fact that his musical vocabulary on the drums is simply infinite. The range he covers as an artist is full scale. From his work with brushes and sticks, his compositions, his soundscapes and his performance, Jojo includes a distinctively musical spectrum which makes him the innovative artist he is.
All of this he showed once again on Drummer Live! 2008. Though Jojo was just one of all major artists at this event, it has to be said: he is one of a kind that you won\'t find anywhere soon on this level of professionalism.
Below you find three videos of his performance at the Drummer magazine festival of 2008. Just be amazed and watch them as much as you want.
