A short 'Victorious' history
The Van Buren is Ludwig's ode to the 'Victorious' drums of the 1940's. During the Second World War, restrictions were placed on the manufacturing of musical instruments and other objects considered non-essential to the war effort in the United States. The metal components in these objects could constitute no more than 10% of the total weight, and the use of copper was restricted.
When the WFL company was 'Meeting Uncle Sam's War-Time Demands,' the "Victorious" drumsets were then built and sold with wooden stands, including a wooden snare stand and a wooden hi-hat.
