For the last two years the word Hybrid is heard more and more in the drum market. At the annual NAMM Show in Los Angeles, CA, Roland has been showing hybrid kits for the past few years. It means nothing more then the combination of acoustic sound and electronic sound with using an electronic sound module and triggers. Roland and Tama combined there latest specialties in a new product: the Tama Cocktail-Jam Hybrid Kit powered by Roland. All to inspire drummers to find new horizons of the drum kit. Available at the end of November 2014 in a limited edition.
Tama made some adjustments on their Cocktail-JAM Kit to incorperate the Roland products, and Roland added some other cool stuff as well.
In the video below, Netsky's V-Drum exponent Michael Schack breaks down and explains the hybrid drum concept. Using a basic stand-up cocktail kit, Michael demonstrates just why and how a TM-2 works so well to reinforce any acoustic drum sound and gives some possible ideas you may use to create the ultimate live drum sound with your acoustic kit.
We included two videos of Michael Schack demoing the Roland Hybrid instruments at the Adams Drummers Festival this year. Prepare for some serious power in those videos!
