Pete Lockett's career is a rather ridiculous resume to go through. Artists he has worked with literally cover the complete musical spectrum as we know it. From his percussion brother Zakir Hussain to Iron Maiden's Nicko McBrain. Or performing just as easily with the London Philharmonic Orchestra as for and with artists like Suga Babes, Jeff Beck, Robert Plant or Texas.

Among his drum collaborations you find the greatest names in drumming, like Russ Miller, Dave Weckl, Jojo Mayer, Eric Moore, Thomas Lang, Horacio El Negro Hernandez and even the great Mike Mainieri. Below is a complete list of artists.

Besides all his achievements in performing, arranging, movie- and album recordings, Pete is also known as an inventor or was at least consulted during the creation of many drum and percussion related products. At the 2020 NAMM Show he launched his Vic Firth Remix brushes; a set of brushes are stick tools to give drummers and percussion players a whole new sound range on any instrument

PETE LOCKETT RETIREMENT ANNOUNCEMENT

Some of you may have noticed I have been pretty under the radar this last eighteen months? Fear not, all is fine health wise - thankfully. Anyway, Pasic last November with Thomas Lang was amazing and the reaction afterwards was overwhelmingly positive. However, since then I decided to take a complete break from every aspect of music. During that time I have re-evaluated my overall life objectives and have now decided to retire from all touring, performance & recording.

It has been an amazing journey for the last 35 years and I feel blessed to have shared part of that journey with all of you. It has been an opportunity to play the best gear with the best artists and be with the very best people. Every single moment is a cherished and deeply valued memory. I LOVE you all and will miss you! Sadly, I will not see you on social media either as all these accounts have been closed. I know that the industry continues to face huge challenges on every front. I sincerely hope that this can all turn around very soon for everyone and that a sustainable stability can come to the fore once again. For myself, I feel fantastically excited for my new adventures and look forward positively to what awaits me, whatever that may be?

Who The Hell Is Pete Lockett?
As in his own words on his website, here is Pete's rundown of his immense career - one of the most extensive in music we have seen.

Pete has worked in virtually every field of music conceivable, both live and in the studio. From pop and rock, to free jazz and the classical avant garde. From traditional Carnatic and Hindustani music of North and South India to traditional Japanese taiko drumming. Straight blues, funk and rock drumming to collaborations with classical, folk, ethnic and experimental musicians. One of Pete's main calling cards is his ability to play traditional instruments out of their normal cultural setting and make them sit within the music comfortably. He has performed live at festivals and concert halls all over the world.

The book was considered 'Book of the year - 2008' and given 10/10 by Slagwerkrant magazine in Holland. It was voted in the top five publications of 2009 in Modern Drummer.
