Glen Sobel, drummer with Alice Cooper and The Hollywood Vampires, has switched from Regal Tip to Vater drumsticks. Glen quickly shows you his new sticks below himself, but they are the Xtreme Design 5A that have Vater's Red Grip Tape on them. And that gives it just that extra touch.
The linen based Grip Tape is durable, absorbent and quickly drying grip. It is available in black, blue, pink, red, white and yellow. So, don't be surprised if you see Glen playing other colors as well. Best thing or the tape is that it is re-usable.
The Xtreme Design 5A sticks are somewhere between a traditional 5A and 5B in the grip. With a heavier taper it has a more solid feel. Well balanced, weighted and responsive with a rounded barrel-style wood tip. According to Modern Drummer Magazine "The Xtreme Design Series offers increased weight and durability without sacrificing response."
Besides the sticks and grip tape Glen also uses Vater's drink and stick holders and stick bag.
