About Jojo Swiss-born Jojo Mayer started playing drums at an early age and made his first public performance at two sitting in with his father's band.
At eighteen, he received international exposure as touring drummer for Monty Alexander and backing up jazz legends Dizzy Gillespie and Nina Simone.
In the 1990s, Jojo moved from Europe to New York City, USA, where he worked as a first-call sideman for a wide range of artists.
Jojo's own band Nerve established the drummer as one of the great performers and innovators on the instrument. His concepts and techniques of reverse-engineering electronic drumbeats on an acoustic drumset introduced a paradigm shift for many drummers all over the world.
