San Francisco-born musician Will Carroll is a left-handed matched-grip player. He has been drumming since he was ten, and has seen active service as a player since the late 1980s, drumming with Scarecrow, Old Grandad, and Vicious Rumors among others.

Will Carroll also served as touring drummer with Machinehead before they recruited Dave McClain. Will joined the band on their first US headline tour behind 'Burn My Eyes'.

Will Carroll joined Death Angel in 2009, replacing the band's original drummer Andy Galeon.

When Will was young and just starting out, he liked all the classic drummers like John Bonham and Keith Moon, but "the drummer who really kicked my ass was Mickey Dee, drummer for King Diamond at the time." A bit further down the road Will discovered Stewart Copeland of The Police, as well as Dennis Davis of David Bowie’s late ’70s bands. More recently Will Carroll has become an admirer of Suffocation sticksman Mike Smith.

According to the San Francisco Chronicle's Datebook, the thrash metal band Death Angel was in Europe for a tour in early March 2020, when the outbreak went global. They cancelled the tour and headed back to the U.S., but on the flight back drummer Will Carroll started showing symptoms. After testing positive, he spent 12 days in a medically induced coma. When he finally woke up on March 30, the staff at California Pacific Medical Center applauded. "(The medical staff) couldn’t believe it," he told the Chronicle. "They were ecstatic because it was a success story."

Carroll had more reason to celebrate, not just because he was returning to good health, but because those 12 days were full of some pretty upsetting visions. Per the Chronicle:

While in the coma, Carroll said he had dreams of visiting the afterlife. He saw himself leave his body and plummet down to hell, where Satan
