As a son of parents from East Turkey, Ulas is born and grew up in 1980 in Germany, Mannheim. Currently he is living in Holland, Rotterdam.
Came to study Latin Percussion at the World Music Department of the Rotterdam Conservatory in September 2003 And finished his studies in June 2008 with a Bachelor.
Besides latin percussion he plays oriental percussion, drum set, different percussion set ups and any other percussive instruments.
He recorded, played and / or still plays with different bands and musicians like Noahs Ark, Senses Wide Open, Rotterdam Ska Jazz Foundation, Palio Parea, Morfitis Trio, Ot Azoj Klezmerband, Neco Novellas, Ed Verhoeff, Benjamin Herman, Philip Caterine and Hein van de Geyn.
His musical field goes from Latin, Brazil, Jazz, Pop, Eastern European Music like Klezmer, Balkan, Bulgaria up to Folkloric Turkish, Kurdish Music and African Music...
He acomponies modern dance classes as a percussionist and participated in different Dance Theater pieces w/live music both in Germany and Netherlands. One production with twice 10 performances titled "About the size of a pea" by Cuban Choreograph Yonel Castilla.
He is teaching drums and percussion in school and private.
