Teun Verbruggen (Brasschaat, 1975) plays drums in the Jef Neve Trio and in the Pascal Schumacher Quartet, featuring vibraphone player Pascal Schumacher as band leader.
Verbruggen studied at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, Department of Jazz & Commercial Music, with Mr. Garcia Morales and Mr. Hans van Oosterhout and received his Master degree in 1999.
Teun Verburggen won the 1st Prize at the International Jazz Contest 1999, Hoeilaart, with the Alexi Tuomarila Quartet. The Quartet also recorded the album Voices of Pohjola (Igloo IGL158), released in April 2001 and 02 (Warner), released in 2003.
Currently Verbruggen plays in Dutch-Belgian quintet Futhark, with Pascal Schumacher Quartet, and Othin Spake.
