Internationally recognized drummer, clinician, educator, and author, Stephane Chamberland has performed and recorded with numerous musicians playing hundreds of live shows in Canada, the USA, and abroad. Known to be a versatile drummer – performing, reading, and writing all styles of music – Stephane is currently playing with his own jazz band while working on projects with many other freelance musicians.

As a clinician, Steph has presented hundreds of clinics and master classes in stores, schools, camps, and festivals in the U.S., Canada, Taiwan, Brazil, and China over the past ten years. He has performed at the Canadian Cape Breton Drum Festival, the Taipei International Percussion Summer Camp (Taipei National University of the Arts), the Da Dong Tian Xia Music Concert (Shanghai Grand Theatre), The Batuka International Drum Festival in Brazil, and the Shanghai International Percussion Camp just to name a few.

Stephane maintains a busy private teaching schedule on Skype and in-person. He now teaches 55 students from 12 different countries. Steph's studios, located in Quebec City, Canada, and New York City, are state-of-the-art teaching and recording facilities where drummers from all over the world come to study. Steph has also been working with companies such as Mapex Drums, Evans Drumheads, Vic Firth Sticks and Sabian Cymbals to develop and support various educational programs.

Stephane has studied drumset with many renowned teachers from around the globe including Dom Famularo, Jim Chapin, Rick Gratton, Robby Ameen, Jeff Salem, Paul DeLong, Joe Bergamini, John Favicchia, Aldo Mazza, Eduardo Guedes, Claus Hessler, and Frank Belluci. He attended the Manhattan School of Music to study with John Riley and Bobby Sanabria, and also studied at the Conservatory of Music in Quebec City.

Steph’s interests in writing and education have led him to become very active in the music publishing world. He is the co-author of the books The Weaker Side, Drumset Duets, and Pedal Control with Dom Famularo and Joe Bergamini (Wizdom Media – Alfred Publishing). He has worked on the book Drumset for Beginners (Alfred Publishing) with Paul Hose and Jim Farey. Stephane also edited the latest editions of the worldwide number one drum books, Stick Control, and Accents and Rebounds, by George Lawrence Stone.

Steph has represented Alfred Publishing at the NAMM show in California and remains a contributing writer for Modern Drummer, Drums Etc, Canadian Musician, Percussive Notes, and Classic Drummer magazine.

Stephane Chamberland started out studying with several top teachers in New York, New Jersey and Toronto, including Dom Famularo, Jim Chapin, Rick Gratton, Robby Ameen, Jeff Salem, Paul DeLong, Joe Bergamini, John Favicchia, Aldo Mazza, Frank Belluci, also with John Riley and Bobby Sanabria at Manhattan School of Music. He also studied at the Conservatory of Music in Quebec City and with several teachers in the Quebec City area.



This eventually led him to performing and recording with well known bands around his town playing Jazz, Afro Cuban, African, Brazilian, Pop, Rock, Alternative, Classical, Funk and Fusion music. Steph Chamberland is known to be a versatile drummer, performing, reading and writing all styles of music. He has also freelanced with many other artists for conventions and festivals.



Steph Chamberland has performed hundreds of drum clinics in schools, retail stores and conventions over the past six years sponsored by Vic Firth Sticks, Mapex Drums and Sabian Cymbals. He also maintains a large roster of students for private instruction. He presently teaches more than 120 students and owns a Wizdom DrumShed studio in collaboration with the Global Ambassador Dom Famularo since 2002. The Wizdom DrumShed is a state-of-the-art teaching facility where drummers from all around the world come to study.



Stephane Chamberland is a freelance writer for many magazines. He has also been featured in Modern Drummer, Gigging Musician, Drum Etc, International Musician, Classic Drummer Magazine and Percussive Notes. Stephane is also a recipient of the Larrie Londin Memorial Scholarship of the Percussive Art Society in 2003 and The Council of the Art of Quebec in 2002.
