Shuichi Hidano trained with Kodo, the world-renowned Taiko group, in 1989, and started his solo career in 1990. Since 1990, he has performed more than 1,400 concerts in Japan and abroad as a soloist with such artists as John "JR" Robinson and Jennifer Batten.
Shuichi Hidano also performed for the closing ceremonies of the World Cup in France (1998) and in Korea/Japan (2002). In 2002, the duo, HidaJimbo, featuring Hidano and Akira Jimbo toured England and performed at the 2002 Rhythm Sticks Festival in London.
Active in production as well, Shuichi Hidano has worked at the 2000 Hannover Expo in Germany, the 2004 Asian Performing Arts Festival in Vietnam, and the 2005 Aichi Expo in Japan. He has released four compact disc recordings, two taiko instructional books and a video. Shuichi Hidano has been awarded the Yokohama City Cultural Prize and Kanagawa Prefecture Cultural Prize.
