Rob “Action” Jackson was born in New Jersey with such greats as Frank Sinatra, Bruce Springstein and Bon Jovi to name a few. Mr. Rob “Action” Jackson started drumming at the early age of three (that’s right three) Rob’s dad and drummer Tom Jackson placed drumsticks into Rob’s hands and that is when it all started. Rob could be found every morning in front of the television watching his favorite drummer of all Animal from Jim Henson’s Muppets play the drums. There wasn’t a day that went bye that Rob couldn’t be found banging along for hours on pots, pans or whatever he could find.
At the age of four Rob Jackson started private instruction with New Jersey School of Percussion owner, instructor and recorded drummer Glen Webber. At the time Glen was reluctant to take on students under the age of six, however, after sitting with Rob Glen made an exception. After several years as a student Rob started to work at the drum shop during the summer months and took lessons with another instructor during down time. This man needs no introduction he is none other than Mr. Joe Morello. With such great influences it is no wonder Rob turned into the drummer he is today.
After 9 years as a student at the New Jersey School of Percussion Rob Jackson and his family moved about an hour west still staying in New Jersey where Rob found fellow Drummer author and instructor Mr. John Havasta with whom he still studies today. Playing mostly jazz Rob found himself as a teenager learning to play other instruments such as guitar, bass, piano and everything PERCUSSION. Spreading his wings Rob found himself performing in concert band, Marching band, jazz ensemble and jamming with other local musicians in various bands.
In 1999 and 2000 Rob Jackson won back-to-back awards for the following Jazz Drummer Concerts in the Park Jazz Competition, Hershey , PA. Among other achievements in 2003 Rob was the winner of Norwegian Cruise Lines Talent Search 2003 (Dawn NY, NY).
