Salle de Jonge // drummer, composer, producer
Born and raised in a musical family, Salle de Jonge's parents encouraged him to play the piano at the age of eight. Although he always had a great interest in drumming, it wasnt until the age of fourteen that he finally started playing. Salle de Jonge soon discovered the drums to be the perfect instrument to create groovy and swingin funk beats.
Salle de Jonge graduated at the Rotterdam Conservatory in June 2006.
Salle is working with artists and bands that mainly play originals and shared the stage with some of Jazz's & Soul Greats; Roy Hargrove, Kurt Rosenwinkel, The Three Degrees, Till Brnner, Ronny Jordan and Bennie Maupin amongst others. Some of his native Dutch Jazz artist are Benjamin Herman, Mathilde Santing, Boris, Michiel Borstlap, Alain Clark, Edsilia Rombley and pop hit Los Lane.
His current activities involve Dutch Soul sensation Shirma Rouse, his own band LeslieNielsen, The Fresh Cuts and Sabrina Starke with whom he wrote, played and produced albums and music.
With renowned DJ Collective Fremdtunes he released 'Volume 1 Breakbeats and Drumloops' library with beats, sounds and breaks, a global hit used on tracks by famous DJ's and producers worldwide.
He worked with Grammy Award winning Producer/Engineer Russel Elevado (Erykah Badu, D'Angelo, Alicia Keys, Al Green) on singer iET's record called So Unreal'.
New plans and adventures for 2017 will contain the composing and production of a follow up to Sabrina Starke's latest release, a brand new, overhauled website, the release of a mini-documentary on drums and beats and a drumclinic tour for Sakae and Zildjian.
Salle endorses Remo Drumheads, Zildjian Cymbals and British Drum Company exclusively.
ROBOTKILLER
ROBOTKILLER is the brainchild of drummer/composer Salle de Jonge (aka Salomon) — where a lifelong love for jazz collides with a 90s hip-hop obsession. Think beat-tape energy played live: Hammond organ, upright bass, and drums dropping sample-like grooves with freedom to burn.
Some say ROBOTKILLER began when a beat machine went rogue, demanding real musicians to set it straight. Others swear it’s a signal from deep space, a pulse sent through the cosmos. Whatever the truth, the sound is clear: sterling grooves, raw improvisation, and a substantial flow that drifts between galaxies of swing, grit, and unshakable rhythm.
The debut release Cosmetic Seconds flips flaws into beauty, featuring Arno Krijger, Thomas Pol, plus heavyweights Jan van Duikeren, Tom Beek, Bas van der Wal, DJ Optimus, and cosmic wordsmith PAX.
Real music. Real players. A future-facing sound with a heartbeat. ?ROBOTKILLER: funk, fire, and freedom with no expiration date.
