Formed in 1984, New York's Cro-Mags were one of several bands that represented a shift from hardcore towards an aggressive, mosh-inducing punk/thrash hybrid. Cro-Mags' original line-up included drummer Mackie Jayson.
The band released their debut album "The Age of Quarrel" in 1986. Soon after Mackie Jayson departed to join Bad Brains. Ex-Murphy's Law member Pete Hines took over the drum chair.
After leaving Cro-Mags Mackie Jayson recorded a.o. "Rise" (1993) with Bad Brains. Most other BB-records have Earl Hudson on drums though.
In 2004 Jayson showed up in Hazen Street, a band featuring vocalists Toby Morse (H2O) and Freddy Cricien (Madball) along with bassist Hoya (also Madball) and guitarist David Kennedy (Box Car Racer).
