Born in Chesterfield, Derbys., England, Phil "Philthy Animal" Taylor became England's most motorious drummer after The Who's Keith Moon had died. Probably because he played in Motorhead: a rock 'n' roll overload...
As Motorhead hits the studio for the first time by the end 1975, original drummer Lucas Fox is replaced by Taylor during the recording sessions.
The accident-prone Philthy Taylor ends the year 1980 by breaking his neck while engaging in a bit of horseplay with a large Irish fan. While waiting for Philthy to heal, Lemmy and Eddie team up with the members of Girlschool, forming 'Headgirl' and even come up with the hit single, "Please Don't Touch" in 1981.
In 1984 Motorhead loose their drummer Philthy again - this time for good it seems. Taylor replaced by Saxon's Pete Gill.
In 1987 Motorhead performs in Eat the Rich, the black comedy by the makers of the English TV show The Young Ones. Lemmy has a featured role in the movie and Motorhead also records the soundtrack album. Just before filming starts, Pete Gill leaves the band and Philthy Phil Taylor returns behind the drum kit. That is, until 1992...
That year the band goes into the studio to record "March or Die" but change drummers again: Philthy Phil is out and Mikkey Dee, ex-King Diamond drummer, comes in.
