Michel Jonker, also known as "Doctor Beat", was founding member and drummer in Absorbed. The band was born out of the ashes of Insomnia in 1997 wit hthe intention to share the members' passion for Swedish death metal. Absorbed disbanded in 2003. On 15-07-2003 the band state on their website:

"After 6 years of existence Absorbed have split-up. Drummer and founding member Michel decided to leave the band and the other members decided not to continue but to abandon ship also."

Currently Michel plays guitar in Makiladoras, which featured Bart Veenvliet ("Zard") behind the drum kit for a while. Veenvliet replaced initial drummer Dennis de Lange. Dennis and Michel both had previously played in Absorbed, with Dennis as guitarist.
