Michael Lee was born as Born Michael Gary Pearson in Newcastle Upon Tyne, England on November 19, 1969.
After a year in Newcastle he moved along with his mother, sister and brother to Darlington, County Durham, 50 miles south of Newcastle in working class coal mining country. After attending primary school young Michael attended Branksome Comprehensive School, and at aged 16 he grabbed the first opportunity to leave for a "real job".
That job was selling pianos and sheet music in a music store and although it lasted only 3 months, he took great interest in the rock department and particularly in drums. With the money from the job he bought an old Premier kit and began playing along to his favourite records at home. Still 16 he joined his first band playing cover versions in working men's clubs around Darlington and Teesside.
At 17 Michael joined his first serious rock band named Holosade. After sending a demo cassette to several record companies the band were signed to York-based independent rock label PowerStation run by Kevin Nixon.
The first band that Michael Lee played with were Polygram signings the Little Angels. Four world tours were to follow supporting bands such as ZZ Top, Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, Bryan Adams and Guns 'n Roses.
Michael Lee then joined the Cult for their Ceremony World Tour. After a brief period with Lenny Kravitz, he was invited by Robert Plant to be part of the Fate of Nations World Tour. It was this tour that eventually led to the development of Page & Plant.
Following were recordings of M.T.V Unplugged, titled “Unledded”, and released as a movie and album, followed by a sell out world tour in support of the “No Quater” album. Michael then co-wrote the “Walking into Clarksdale” album, followed up by yet another World Tour.
Michael Lee has also been busy recording and touring with Echo and the Bunnymen as well as making various TV appearances with Bryan Adams.
Michael Lee joined Thin Lizzy when they reformed. He worked with many other bands including Holosade, Alaska, Sweet Janes and many more.
Most recently Lee had toured with Jeff Martin and played drums on Martin's solo album, Exile and the Kingdom. He also performed with The Cult founders Billy Duffy and Ian Astbury on their Ceremony tour. He also co-operated on the 2006 Ian Gillan album, 'Gillan's Inn'.
