Michael Baker grew up in Duluth and graduated from Central High School in 1975.
Michael Baker worked with many artists, including Candy Dulfer, Sting and Elton John. For the last 18 years has worked as Whitney Houston's music director and drummer.
Michael Baker credits his former band teacher Jim Stellmaker with laying the foundation for his musical future. Stellmaker also unknowingly gave Baker the break that would start his career -- when he invited jazz trumpet player Clark Terry to Central for a clinic. Says the drummer: "Through that meeting, I ended up playing in Clark Terry's band for about 6 months going to Europe and touring."
