Matt Platts played drums in London-based cyber metal sextet Interlock until late November 2006.
Matt Platts names Pete Sandoval of Morbid Angel ("because we like it that fast") and Chris Maitland of Porcupine Tree ("because we like it that complex too") as musical influences.
Platts first met Interlock at a gig at the Camden Underworld. The drummer happened to mention something about having some vague ability to play the drums. At that point his previous drumming experience consisted of a couple of punk bands many years ago, and a lot of thrashing around his home trying to play as fast as humanly possible. Despite telling them that he couldn't really play drums but "probably could if he tried" Matt Platts was taken on board for a trial period to see what happened. That was in 2002.
Previous affiliations of Matt Platt include guitarist with Salem Orchid (pre-Akercocke band) for several years, recently standing in for Shellshock as guitarist for their 'Kev' video, and in the late 90s Platt also toured and recorded as guitarist with indie/rock band Nightnurse. Continues the drummer: "But metal's where its at, the darker and more industrial the better, so blast beat practice at 6am followed by a cold shower is the order of the day :) "
