Born in Argentina but mainly based in Spain, Matias Mingote German is a drummer and percussionist who is is forging a personal path for himself in music, fusing the ideas of many cultures and focusing always on the beauty of the basic sound. The official story says that at the age of eight Mingo's parents discovered that he liked drumming when he turned glasses and plates into a drum set with an amateur’s grip on knives and forks, thereby ruining the tableware…



Matias Mingote German's passion for drumming led him to seek the highest levels of musical education at world-renowned institutions like Lunds Universitet (Musikhogskolan I Malmo-Sweden), Berklee College of Music Drums Award (EMC-BA), Faculty of Bellas Artes (UNLP), Taller de Musics(UPC-Spain), Gilardo-Gilardi Conservatory (Arg.), Alois Haba Escola(Barcelona),Unesco Aschberg Percussion mention (ISA-Cuba),CADIE (Consejo Arg. de Intercambio estudiantil) Mass University(Amherst-US),NEC scholarship selected (US).



Matias Mingote German as also studied with great drum masters like the legend Ed Thigpen, Lars ”the baggarn” Andersson, Thorvald Lidner, Soryba Tourah and Max Soumah (African music), Pepi Taveira, Aldo Caviglia, Pepe Colzani, U.T Gandhi, Mario Gusso, Tolvan Big Band ensamble master Helge Albin, master composers Ken Pullig and Greg Badolato, Luca Francesconi, Benny Staern, Mariano Etkin, Sergio Balderrabano, Pepe Angelillo, Mario Carpinetti, Daniel Johansen, Pollo Raffo, Lapo Gessaghi, Ernesto Jodos, Martin Lliut, etc.

Matias Mingote German has led his own band, ÑU GRUP, featuring his own 100% original compositions groovin’ around ñu jazz + afrolatinoamerican ideas, and is now working with the MinGOTAN Project, which is a mixture of tangojazz, Argentinian urban-folk and klezmer music. He is working to present this fresh and unique musical tapestry in concerts and educational workshops throughout the world with the collaboration of masterful musicians and prestigious music institutions like John Stein(guitar,composer-Berklee College educator), John Loockwood(double bass-Berklee College US), Evan Harlan(accordion-NEC Boston), Rebe Kleinmann(flute-Berkeley California), Eli Vanunu(master sax-Israel), Dream Cymbals +Cympad + Colombo Percusion Workshops.
