Not unlike most plants and animals, Joshua Van Tassel has been making sound since he was born, maybe even since conception technically, who knows. He began organizing those sounds into rhythm and music during his high school years, then continued on to St. Francis Xavier University, Humber College, and the Banff Centre for the Arts where he studied very hard and practiced lots, learning about all kinds of music.
Joshua Van Tassel currently lives in Toronto where he continues to make lots of different sounds; some quite musical, others not so much. He was lucky enough to receive an Ontario Arts Council Grant in 2007 and wrote the material for his debut album “One Window”.
Joshua Van Tassel's solo efforts continued with the follow ep “Nighttimer”, and “Everyone Has it All”. Material from both releases have been featured in all three seasons of the Outdoor Life Network tv show Departures, and in various theatre productions as well.
Joshua Van Tassel is currently very busy playing drums, percussion, and electronics for artsits such as David Myles, Joshua Cockerill, Carly and Mark, Ronley Teper, Selina Martin, Valery Gore, Laura Barrett,The Outlanders, Ben Gunning, and many others.
Joshua Van Tassel received a 2010 OAC grant to compose music for a full-length record, released in the spring of 2011.
