Danish born Jonas Filtenborg (Copenhagen 1977), is a product of an all-musician family. He started playing violin at tender age of four, but hence the fact that he used this delicate wood as a drum stick, his parents (both freelance musicians) soon recognized that a daily meal could only be guaranteed if Jonas would switch to drums (real soon).
The necessary switch to drums (for protective reasons) appeared to be a very good one. Jonas pounded the drums ever since, and never stopped. In 1995 Jonas moved to Amsterdam (the Netherlands) to continue performing the drums for a living. After a few years living in The Netherlands he received his professional recognition by the Danish government of Culture, sending him to New York for six months intensive drumming in their local scene. During his stay in the Big Apple Jonas played with many top notch musicians including some big names.
Returning to The Netherlands has since been playing with: Sister Sledge (USA), Leona (NE), Roy Hargrove (USA),
Brainpower (NE), Gloria Gayner (USA), Westlife (GB), Postmen (NE), Sita (NE), Birgit (NE), Candy Dulfer (NE), Boris (NE), Do (NE), Trijntje Oosterhuis (NE), Hind (NE), The Hilfiger Sessions (various (inter)national artists), Alain Clark (NE), and Big, Black & Beautiful (NE) among others.
Besides performing live Jonas is an in demand studio session drummer. With his huge personal collection of various drum equipment such as unique Ludwig® snare drums from back in the 60’s/70’s, piles of diverse cymbals, and so many toms that you could lay down the total communication infrastructure for at least 5 native American tribes simultaneously.
