Composer/arranger Jim Casella has been percussion arranger and caption coordinator for The Cavaliers since October 2005. Casella is working alongside percussion caption head Jim Acona.
Jim Casella is well-known in the drum corps activity, most recently as the percussion arranger for Santa Clara Vanguard from 1996 through 2004. He joined The Cavaliers following the recent retirement of long-time percussion arranger and caption head Bret Kuhn.
Jim Casella received his education in percussion performance from San Jose State University and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music where he studied with Anthony J. Cirone and Jack Van Geem. He now resides in Portland, Ore. with his wife, Willow, and works as a composer/arranger for television and broadcast projects, as well as competitive percussion ensembles nationwide.
Prior to moving to Oregon, Casella was an active player in the San Francisco bay area where he performed professionally with several symphony orchestras.
As an internationally recognized marching percussion arranger, Casella has given clinics across North America, as well as in Europe and Asia. He is the co-founder of Tapspace Publications and the producer/programmer of the sample library, “Virtual Drumline 2.”
